A New Movie Game – Film Recipes (aka. Cinematic Algebra)
Here’s a thought. Can films be explained as a recipe of other movies? As if you could you summarise a film by combining other films (or even subtract).
Some examples… (and please bear in mind that this is done in a light hearted way before someone comes at me over one of them)
The film recipe for Joker (2019) might be…
=
+
OR…
The movie recipe for Shazam (2019) is Big (1985) mixed with Superman (1978)…
=
+
OR…
Ad Astra (2019) is 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968) combined with Apocalypse Now (1979)…
=
+
Or…
Die Hard 2 (1990) is a unsophisticated blend of classic Die Hard (1988) and Airplane (1980) – ok this one is a bit mean spirited…
=
+
…and you can play it backwards.
So if you take Rambo : First Blood (1982), take away Deathwish (1974) you get…
–
=
and so on, and so on…
–
=
–
=
–
=
Have you got any film recipes to share? Add your comments with the best ones that you’ve got…
(and again remember – the over simplification is just for fun…)
