I was incredibly dubious about the decision to remake the 1995 Robin Williams vehicle Jumanji. Messing with some films is a dangerous game, and it felt like one of those moments. However, when the 2017 remake landed, I was very pleasantly surprised.

The remake took us, via a retro computer game, into the magical jungle land of Jumanji – this time with Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Karen Gillan and Jack Black – with a family adventure that really worked. Not too much of a surprise then that there is a sequel due to land in December, with Danny DeVito and Danny Glover added to the cast.
