For ‘G’ in the Alphabet challenge, we head off to the Boston based crime thriller Gone Baby Gone, directed by Ben Affleck and starring his younger brother Casey.

The film, based on the novel of the same name by Dennis Lehane (Shutter Island, The Drop, Mystic River), is a crime thriller with strong film noir feel to it following the story of a private investigator Patrick Kenzie (Affleck) who is called upon to look into the abduction of a four year old girl.

The film is a dark thriller and well directed by Ben Affleck who was making his directorial debut with this film. The cast that the new director was working with was impressive, with Morgan Freeman, Ed Harris, and Michelle Monaghan all playing key roles in the film as well.

It’s a powerful story and a well delivered film throughout with Lehane’s tale being one of a number of well transitioned stories from his novels to film.

8/10
